ACOT August 2020 Hop!

Welcome to the August Blog Hop for A Cherry on Top Crafts! This month our design team focused on the theme of books and/or school! With the new school year just around the corner, I thought this would be a perfect opportunity to scrap reading/education related pics!

These two photos of my youngest son are some of my favorites of him reading. He was not really a fan of books for a long time, but once we started homeschooling and I introduced him to the magic of illustrated encyclopedias (he LOVES non-fiction, it turns out!), he was hooked! My favorite part of this layout is the gold puffy shapes that I used behind my photos and to hold my journaling. I thought it was clever to create a shelf underneath with them!

I used mainly the Office Hours collection from Pinkfresh Studio, though the puffy gold pieces came from Simple & Sweet, which has been discontinued. I loved this book shelves paper and just had to use it for my background, but the title came from my some himself! I asked him to come up with a book pun and this was what he said, “Treat Yo’ Shelf!” I have to admit, that one cracked me up, and I had to add it in!

If you’d like to see this layout come together, I’ve included the process video below!

Be sure to hop along to the Erica Rose Creates’ blog to see her take on this fun theme. I hope you enjoy this spring hop, let me know what you think in the comments below. One randomly chosen commenter will win a $10.00 ACOT gift certificate.*

    1. Thank you, Mary! We are avid readers here too! I’ve always been a book nerd and happily have shared this obsession with my children at every opportunity!

  1. I love that your son came up with the title for your page! Really great detail on your page; adds interest and moves our eye around the photos.

  2. Oh, I have that collection but never quite figured out how to use the papers. You have aced them on this layout! Such fun, and love your heartfelt journaling. My girls were great readers, too, although the younger one didn’t read much until high school. I have been a library rat all my life!

    1. I know exactly what you mean. It’s such a pretty collection, but the papers are almost too pretty to cut into! I am a library rat too!

    1. Thank you very much, Krystle! This book paper just makes me feel so peaceful. Is there anything as lovely as a smartly organized bookshelf?

    1. Thank you, Stacy! Yes, I love using gold, especially with warmer toned layouts. I tend to use silver on cooler toned ones.
