These adorable pictures of my twins with their butterfly wing costumes are the sweetest photos! I knew they deserved an extra-special layout! As part of the Stretch the Sketch Video Hop, we used a fantastic sketch from Altenew as a guide and each of us used it on any sized layout except 12×12! These layouts are going in my twins’ 9×12 albums, so I made them work together and separately!
Here is the sketch from Altenew:
The basis for this layout was to use a fabulous floral art screen from Studio Calico and black Dylusions paint to add a dark contrast in the background before layering all of these soft, pastel colors. I then matted my photos with papers from the Simple Stories I Am collection and vellum before popping them up on foam for dimension.
Then, I fussy cut out lots of flowers and butterflies from the I Am collection papers and tucked them in around the photos, layering them as much as possible. I finished it off with these glorious sparkly gold Thickers and splashes of Heidi Swapp Color shine in Gold (which sadly has been discontinued) and some tiny punched hearts from gold glitter paper.
Overall, this layout was so much fun to make and actually fairly quick! It’s definitely one of my new favorites and a technique that I will be repeating soon!
