“Happy” ~ 12×12 Hand-Stitched Mixed Media Scrapbooking Layout

I was on a mission with this layout!! I saw this gorgeous Paige Evans stitching cut file in her Facebook Group “Happy Scrappy Place” and just had to give it a go!  I love a good challenge and this was quite a LARGE one!  I started this layout by smudging gelatos and Distress Crayons into all of the flowers and their centers to give the background a pop of color.  Then, I spent 4 DAYS hand-stitching this stunning cut file, carefully matching the embroidery floss to the gelato.  This creates a fun tone-on-tone look that I am so pleased with!

This sweet picture is of my whole family one Easter morning when everyone was all gussied up and looking lovely.  As children often are, they were a bit wiggly, but I think that makes for a fantastic and funny family photo!  I fussy cut these gorgeous flowers from the Simple Stories I Am collection and this tag is one of the ephemera pieces.  These super sparkly sequins are from SpiegelMom Scraps and I adore them!!

The title and tiny butterflies are exclusive alphas from the Hip Kit Club and I so wish I had more of that fabulous scripty font!  I added a 6 inch doily behind the photo on one side and layered more fussy cut flowers on the other.  Topped it off with a butterfly with both wings popped up on foam tape to give it dimension!  The butterfly trail was made with Nuvo drops.

Overall, this layout was a true labor of love!  I am so pleased with the outcome and think it was worth all four days of hand-stitching.  I will definitely be on the lookout for another of these stunning cut files to try again soon!
