This layout was inspired by a challenge from the Secret Not secret Kit Club to scraplift a layout from Paige Evans. I am a big fan of Paige, so this was an exciting prospect for me! Here is the layout that I chose to scraplift:
What I liked about her layout was the painted background and flourish of butterflies in flight. I chose this recent picture of my daughter, Sophia, and I snuggling on the couch to scrap. This photo is in black and white because it was a little overexposed and not a great image in color. Being black and white meant that I had a great deal of freedom with the colors I chose to use!
I used Prima Tropical Watercolors to paint the background onto Bazzill Marshmallow Cardstock and then simply began layering these gorgeous DIY Mixed Media Butterflies across the page. I created these painted and die cut beauties for a tutorial here on my blog.
I kept my embellishments simple, printable flowers from Inkie Quill and sequins from Spiegelmom Scraps. The word stickers are from Tim Holtz Small Talk and I think the pop of black they add really ties in the photo well.
Overall, this sweet layout came together much faster than I expected and was a lot of fun to make! I love how bold it is and am excited to try this style again soon! Thanks for the inspiration, Paige Evans!
