I am really excited to begin my very first December Daily album! The December Daily project was started by a fantastic designer, Ali Edwards. Her idea has bloomed into a movement and I am so excited to be a part of that movement.
Because I’ve done process videos for all of these pages and shared them on my Youtube channel, I thought I’d streamline the blog posts for these relatively simple layouts.
To begin, I decorated my cover with a wood veneer ornament and then painted and embossed it to add a lot of shine! For page one, I used an acetate page with the word “December” on it as my opening page and decorated the page behind it that shows through. Then, my Reason Why page detailing my choice to undertake this daily project and a sweet insert holding letters two of my kids had written to their Papa.
For day one, I decided to do a pocket page with pictures from my oldest daughter, Chloe’s scout float in our local parade. It had a Winter Wonderland theme, which was perfect for using some of the pieces in the December Daily kit I curated by combining Felicity Jane’s “Joy” and Simple Stories’ “Winter Wonderland” collections (plus a few extras from my stash).
For day two, we enjoyed our sons’ marching in yet another parade with their scout troop and float. We’d had a parade filled weekend! I attempted a flip pocket with washi tape on this day, but ended up replacing it with a proper flip pocket later because the washi refused to hold! I painted and embossed the 2 on this page.
I didn’t have any photos for day three as I’d spent the entire day out shopping for Christmas presents! So, I decided to document that instead by using this sweet ephemera piece of the Felicity Jane “Joy” as the centerpiece of this layout..
This super sweet picture of my daughter Olivia in a Santa hat that she found somewhere in the house was just perfect for day four. She looked so peaceful and happy to have this fuzzy hat, that I had to snap a quick picture. She’s so dreamy in this one that it kind of titled itself! Love that I could incorporate some pink in this album too!
I decided that day five needed to feature the beautiful weather we were enjoying in this first week of December. With 70s and fair skies, my kids had ample opportunity to jump on the trampoline and play outside. I am so glad I did because it turned cold less than a week later! This layout has two parts, a half and a full page.
I did a very simple pocket page layout for day six featuring our fun evening decorating a gingerbread house! A new holiday tradition for our house.
On day seven, I spent an entire afternoon addressing and signing our adorable Christmas cards. So, I added one of the extra cards, embellished it a little bit and glued in our newsletter to the inside. Then, I decorated this envelope (that came with the binder I’m using) and will use it to hold incoming Christmas cards from friends and family!
Overall, this project seems to be a lot of fun! I’d hoped to stay current with it, but as you might expect, that hasn’t happened! I do hope to finish up the entire project by the end of December and will stop documenting on Christmas day. You can watch all of the December Daily process videos on this Youtube playlist.
I would love to hear your thoughts on my December Daily pages so far! Feel free to share in the comments below!
