I like to begin every annual photo album with a family photo from that year, so this was the cover photo for 2012 (yes, I’m a little behind!). This picture was taken by a church friend on Easter morning. It has a huge variety of blues in it, so I wanted to bring in more color so it didn’t feel monochromatic. I love how the border strips draw attention to Chloe’s darling dress and hair bow.
The embellishments on this this layout were pretty limited because it is quite bright. I layered 4 colors of washi tape under the photo to ground it on the page, then added a simple year title from white Thickers and a butterfly from the Turn the Page ephemera pack that was included in October’s Citrus Twist kit. I added pearl rhinestones for the body to give it more dimension.
On the right side of the photo, I created a cluster with a navy doily base and layers of flowers from the kit and my stash. I added enamel dots and shapes to give the cluster a 3-D effect and popped the largest flower up on foam tape. The label below the picture was part of the kit’s cut-apart sheet and I used the 3×4 stamp exclusive to the kit to add “Sweet moment.” A couple of small punched shapes on top of the label and this layout was done!
Overall, I really liked the way this layout came together and I’m happy with the bright colors on a stark white background. I don’t often use a white background, but it worked really well with this photo!
I would love to hear what you think about this layout, so please share your thoughts in the comments below or on my Facebook group! I also have a Youtube channel with scrapbooking process videos and DIY embellishment ideas as well.
