I try to catch a couple’s picture with my husband at least once a year and usually aim for our anniversary. We rarely get date nights and usually don’t celebrate our anniversary as a result, can you believe it’s hard to find a babysitter for five kids? Seriously! This was before the twins were born, however, and my wonderful friend from church had offered to watch them for us while we enjoyed a night out.
This butterfly is one of my tissue paper embellishments and I added some white Nuvo drops to create a trail behind it. I love to do that with my butterfly embellishments to add a bit of whimsy! I used a marker to color the “LOVE” wood veneer gold. The borders to this layout are layers of washi tape.
Behind the photo, I concertina folded some black mesh ribbon, layered a gray ribbon on top, and then added a cluster of fussy cut flowers from a gorgeous black and white floral paper from Crate Paper’s Carousel collection, called Belle. These took forever to cut out, but they make such a bold statement! I added pale gold Nuvo drops to the centers to make them pop. The blue hearts embellishment is one of my DIY faux flair pieces.
I fussy cut a whole page of these label tabs from the My Minds Eye Now and Then Collection paper called Labels and added a Maggie Holmes word sticker in gold and white Thickers to create my title. I added some puffy hearts and blue brads from my stash to complete that cluster.
Overall, I’m very happy with how this layout came out and love the sort of monochromatic look to it. The black accents really makes that blue pop and this background piece of shimmery cardstock has been in my stash for years!
